What We Loved
Inokim are known for being at the forefront of electric scooter development. Their OxO is a high-spec model that will work well in off-road situations.
It has an impressive 40mph upper speed limit and the large battery ensures you get plenty of mileage on one charge – even if the motor is having to work harder on rough terrain.
Admittedly, the motor doesn’t pack quite the punch the Max Outstorm or the Qiewa Qpower models do. But, for all but the most extreme riders, the 2000w of power will be more than enough. Steep hills and bumpy conditions aren’t a problem for the OxO.
The hydraulic brakes on this model are incredibly responsive. This will give you plenty of confidence when riding on a gradient and if you have to make a stop from high speeds.
The Inokim models also have the bonus of having a unique adjustable height suspension system. This ensures a comfortable riding experience on the bumpiest terrain and will help to prevent your scooter from getting undercarriage damage.
With wide, air-filled pneumatic tires, you can be confident of good grip and extra support on the trails too.
Why it Might Not Work For You
The tires on the OxO aren’t as wide as some off-road electric scooters. Although they still provide good stability and comfort, they won’t be as forgiving as those on the Outstorm, for example, which are an inch wider.
Be prepared for a long charge time with the OxO too. It might have a decent range, but that’s only because the battery is huge. It can take up to 14 hours for it to fully recharge.
While the OxO has a high specification, it does come with a rather high price tag too. Coming in at over $2,500, this is the most expensive of all the models on our list. If you don’t plan to do a lot of fast off-roading, you may be better off opting for a less expensive commuter style option.

This scooter is fast. Dangerously fast. If you are not used to riding a scooter, or have only ridden a standard rental version, then riding the Outstorm will take some getting used to.
Its top speed is a ridiculous 56 mph. For adrenaline junkies, this will allow you to push yourself to the limits – just take care, especially if off-roading. Big bumps at top speed are certainly hazardous.
The Outstorm is also a great option for heavier riders. It can carry up to 485lbs in weight. Because it has such a powerful motor, even when it is carrying more weight, it still has fantastic acceleration and high torque. The detachable seat post is also a nice extra touch, perfect if you want to have a bit of a more laid back riding experience.
This scooter has enormous power, with a whopping 3200w dual motor. This makes off-roading all the more thrilling. It handles inclines with ease and has incredible acceleration.
With any off-road scooter, high-quality suspension is essential. You get a comfortable riding experience with dual suspension shock absorption.
When you order your scooter, you have the choice of selecting solid road or pneumatic tires. If you plan to do a lot of off-roading, it would be better to go for the air-filled tires. While it means you may have to deal with a puncture at some point down the road, they will offer additional support on the rougher terrain.
The battery on the Outstorm is a huge 60v, and this means you can get up to 52 miles in distance, depending on your weight and riding style. If you love a long-distance adventure, this makes this model appealing.
A lot of the more powerful models, that have a longer battery life, take a long time to charge. It is nice that this scooter comes with a dual charger. This means, even though the battery is bigger than that of an average scooter, it still only takes 6 hours to reach full charge.
Why it Might Not Work For You
These scooters are not manufactured or shipped from the US. If you have to do any returns or are waiting on replacement parts, you will need to be prepared for a long wait.
Frustratingly, if you have any issues, you will have to rely on communicating by email as there is no telephone customer support.
The biggest downside to this scooter is the fact that it is an absolute tank. Of course, this helps to ensure that it offers good stability and durability for riding off-road, but it weighs over 100lbs. It is even an effort to lift it in and out of the trunk of a car, never mind trying to carry it any distance.
Overall Verdict
The Outstorm is well suited to off-roading. It has a durable frame, decent suspension, a heck of a lot of power, and a battery allowing you to go further distances. It is just a shame it is such a cumbersome model. You don’t want to be having to lift this bad boy about too much!

What We Loved
If you’re still looking for a quality scooter with a great reputation, but you don’t want to spend as much as you would on the Inkim OxO, you could opt instead for the Ox model.
Even though it doesn’t reach the dizzying speeds of the OxO or the Max Outstorm, for all but the biggest adrenaline junkies, the 28mph maximum speed will be more than enough. In fact, if you’re a beginner rider, this will save you getting carried away at fast speeds when you don’t have the experience or confidence.
At 32 miles, the maximum range should be adequate for all but the longest or hardest of riders too.
One of the big pluses of this model is the fact that it only weighs 57lbs. It’s not the lightest electric scooter around, but for one capable of off-roading this is pretty impressive. It’s considerably lighter than all the other models we’ve reviewed here.
Why it Might Not Work For You
The motor on the Ox is considerably less powerful than the rest of the models on this list. For tough, steep off-roading, some riders could find this frustratingly limiting.
Also, the mechanical disc brakes that the Ox has won’t be as responsive when on steep off-road trails as the hydraulic variety that have been used on the OxO.
Overall Verdict
A well built, comparatively lightweight and comfortable scooter capable of handling light off-roading. For experienced riders looking for plenty of power and speed, however, this model might not be the best choice.

What We Loved
If you’re new to the world of electric scooters and don’t want to invest too much while you try it out, or you’re on a very limited budget, then the Uberscoot could appeal. It’s by far the most affordable of all the models on our list.
Despite this, it still has a reasonably powerful 1600w motor. This ensures decent bursts of speeds, and it can manage hills and bumpy terrain with relative ease.
The fact that this scooter is capable of accommodating up to 400lbs in weight is also a plus for heavier riders.
It’s handy that the scooter comes with a removable seat post, allowing the option of a more comfortable ride. Plus, it has wide 11-inch knobby tires which are good for off-roading.
Why it Might Not Work For You
Although the Uberscoot has a decent motor and you may be attracted by the low price point, it’s hard to wholeheartedly recommend this model when you compare it with the others reviewed in terms of value for money.
How long this scooter will run well for is up for debate. The parts and build aren’t as high spec, and it’s probably telling that it only comes with a 90-day warranty.
One of the biggest disappointments is that the Uberscoot is fitted with lead-based batteries. This is something you usually only see on the basic kids electric scooters. These cheaper batteries don’t have the longevity or reliability that the lithium-ion ones do.
It also means the scooter can only take you up to 12 miles on one charge. If you are pushing the scooter to top speeds and riding on uneven surfaces and steep gradients, it’ll end up being considerably less. This isn’t particularly practical and will be very limiting for most riders.
At 117lbs, the Uberscoot is also the heaviest of all the scooters we’ve reviewed – by a considerable distance. Moving this around in between use is going to be tough. If you get caught short with the battery, which isn’t unrealistic given the piddling range, pushing this thing home could be back-breaking!
Overall Verdict
If you have a very limited budget but are keen to try an off-road capable scooter, the Uberscoot could be worth considering. You’ll just need to expect to get what you pay for. The longevity and limitations in terms of range and battery capacity could prove to be exasperating.

The Qiewa Qpower shares a lot of similar attributes with the Max Outstorm. This model is capable of going a little further, though, with a very generous 60-mile maximum range.
The acceleration on this baby is tremendous, and the 3200w motor power will help you speed up hills and pulverize bumpy terrain with ease.
Stable, durable and comfortable, this is another model that would work well for heavier riders or those transporting a bigger load. It has a massive 400lb maximum weight capacity.
It has responsive hydraulic brakes, 11-inch off-road pneumatic tires and great suspension. These all make this an excellent choice for serious off-roading.
Why it Might Not Work For You
After the Inokim OxO, the Qpower is the most expensive of the off-road electric scooters we have reviewed. Although it offers a lot of power and range, the engineering of this model doesn’t have the same peak quality reputation as the Inokim models do. This may impact on the scooter’s overall longevity, especially if it’s regularly taking a beating on rough surfaces at high speed.
The Qpower model also has the longest charge time of 15 hours, so you’ll need to factor this in if you plan on using it daily.
Oh, and get ready for a challenge when it comes to assembly. This China manufactured model doesn’t have a particularly comprehensive instruction manual, and building it up can be tricky.
