Have you purchased a hoverboard for your kid, but they’ve found it difficult to master?

Or, maybe they’ve been put off using it because they have had too many wipeouts?

Or, do you just love the idea of having your own easy to operate go kart?

Whatever the case, a great way to use your hoverboard is to get a go-kart attachment, sometimes referred to as a hoverkart go-kart.

These attach to the hoverboard, making it more like a low-ride electric buggy. It provides a much more stable and safe riding experience.

This is great for younger kids, those with limited mobility, those struggling to keep their balance, or for those that just want a different riding experience altogether.

Make Sure The Go-Kart You Are Purchasing is Compatible With the Hoverboard You Have

Not all hoverboard builds are compatible with karts. Some boards require a specific style of kart attachment. Before purchasing an attachment, make sure that it is one that will fit properly to the size and style of hoverboard that you have.

Some hoverboards, like the Swagtron T6 and some of the MegaWheels models, have a handle in the middle of the board and this can mean that a lot of standard go-kart conversion kits won’t work.

Don’t Forget About the Importance of a High Quality Hoverboard Too

Of course, buying a great kart will be a pointless exercise if you don’t have a good hoverboard in the first place. You want to ensure it is well made; it needs to be sturdy enough for the kart to be securely attached to it. You want it to be powerful and with a good battery, and good pneumatic tires will offer a more comfortable all-round riding experience.

Reviews of the Best Electric Hoverboard Go Kart Attachments

Hiboy HC-01 Hoverboard Kart Seat Attachment Accessory for Two Wheel Self Balancing Scooter

Specs

Max Weight Capacity270 lbs
Kart Weight 11.5 lbs

What We Loved

The Hiboy range of kart attachments is some of the bestsellers on the market.

They have a good reputation for building well constructed and designed karts and provide good after-sales support.

This kart attachment has a generous maximum weight capacity of 270 lbs and is reasonably lightweight, at just over 11 lbs.

It can be adjusted in length, depending on the height of the rider, and it is compatible with any 6.5, 8 and 10-inch hoverboards that don’t have the central handle.

It also comes in a few funky design options for catching the eye on the street, and it is easy to assemble.

The kart comes with rubber pads that can be fitted to ensure that the kart does not scratch your hoverboard.

It has comfortable hand controls, and the rubberized footrests mean your feet won’t slip off easily.

Why it Might Not Work For You

One of the things that crop up in a lot of customer reviews with this board is that the straps that attach the kart to the board are not particularly sturdy and that they can be prone to breaking. It does come with a spare set of straps, but it is worth being aware of this issue.

Like most karts, it is not compatible with boards that have the central handle.

The seat does not offer any padding so it can be a bit of an uncomfortable ride, particularly if you are tackling a bumpier road surface.

Overall Verdict

This is a sturdy, reliable, affordable model that will work well with most hoverboards (that don’t have a handle).

BEST FOR OFF-ROAD HOVERBOARD USE

#2. Hover-1 Beast Buggy

hover-1 beast buggy go kart attachment

What We Loved

One of the only off-road hoverboard attachments, this thing is pretty tricked out.

It even comes with suspension!

It’s meant to fit any 10″ hoverboard, so is pretty cross-compatible.

The wheel on the front is big and air filled for a smooth ride on any surface.

Most of the construction is great.

Why it Might Not Work For You

The only thing that seems to be a problem is that some units have faulty front-wheel assemblies, causing the wheel to wiggle or even turn sideways at some speeds.

Therefore it’s highly recommended to use this with a slower hoverboard, if possible, as it doesn’t seem to be a one-off issue.

It’s a very cool unit, but just be aware that the front wheel assembly might require you to tweak it to use safely.

Overall Verdict

This is a versatile hoverboard kart attachment that will work well for those who want to take it slightly off road, just watch for a wonky front wheel.

Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart Drift Kit

Specs

Max Weight Capacity220lbs

What We Loved

So, the Segway miniPro and the Ninebot S are not traditional hoverboards. They have a knee balance support bar and are constructed quite differently. It is important to remind people that this kart is only compatible for use with these two products and not a normal hoverboard. Skip this review if you don’t already have one of those models, or don’t plan to buy one.

This thing is the daddy of attachable go-karts. It looks like a little professional go-kart design. It even has a steering wheel and a handbrake that can allow you to master drifting, which a lot of kids, and adults, will love. Riding this will feel like you are at a go-karting track, just don’t get carried away trying to do any wheelies.

The app, as with all Segway products, is really interactive and has lots of great features. This makes it a tech geeks dream. It has three-speed levels, perfect for adjusting to suit the age and experience of the rider.

Although it doesn’t have a very generous maximum weight capacity, it can work for lighter tall riders. It can be adjusted to work for people up to 6 feet and 5 inches tall.

When combined with the MiniPro or Ninebot, it has great power and acceleration and can get up to the top speed of 12mph in no time at all.

The wide air-filled tires help to provide a comfortable riding experience, although this is not really designed to be ridden off-road.

Why it Might Not Work For You

By the time you pay for this and a Segway MiniPro or Ninebot S, you will be spending a small fortune. This thing is not cheap. You would spend less buying a traditional go-kart attachment and a new standard hoverboard than you would just buy this attachment on its own.

It is not exactly portable. Weighing in over 60 lbs, it is a brick and is not the sort of thing that can be picked up and carried around easily in between rides. It is also not as easy to store away as some of the shorter traditional style karts.

Despite being so heavy, it is a shame that the Go-Kart Drift Kit only has a maximum load capacity of just 220lbs. So if a heavier adult wants to take a turn, they will be disappointed.

Unlike the simpler, traditional go-kart styles, this is much more complicated to assemble. There are lots of kart accessories and you will need the patience to get it ready to go.

You really need to make sure the app is set to go-kart mode before you start using it. Otherwise, it could take off before you have even gotten into it properly.

Overall Verdict

If you already have a Ninebot S or a Segway MiniPro, this is a super fun, stable, fast and cool looking kart with a lot of great features. It is very expensive though, and it won’t work if you don’t already have one of the compatible models to go with it.

BEST ON A BUDGET

#4. SPS-TAPS

sps taps hoverboard attachment

Specs

Max Weight Capacity220lbs

What We Loved

This model is one of the most affordable on the market right now. So, if you are on a budget, this could be a good choice.

It fits most models of hoverboards with 6 inch wheels, so it’s quite versatile and is easy to put together and adjust for rider height.

It’s not all that fancy, but for the price it’s a steal, and is actually reasonably sturdy, especially if used for kids.

Why it Might Not Work For You

The build quality is not all that great compared to some of the more expensive models on our list. There have been reports of broken plastic parts.

The front wheel is not air-filled, and it is not as well-made or durable as on some models.

Overall Verdict

If you are on a limited budget, this could be an option to go for. Just be aware that there are other models that are not too much more expensive and that offer a lot better value for money. It may be worth pushing the boat out and investing a little more to get a more durable model.

FOR A COMFORTABLE RIDING EXPERIENCE

#5. Hiboy HC-02 Hoverboard Go Cart

Hiboy HC-02 Hoverboard Go Cart

Specs

Max Weight Capacity270lbs

What We Loved

The HC-02 is a more expensive but higher specification hovercart model from Hiboy.

It means that this kart will cope with some light off-roading on gravel, grass and hard-packed sand better. Of course, you will also have to have a hoverboard that is designed to handle this too.

The seat has a slightly more elevated position than on a standard go-kart attachment. It also has shock absorbers to help minimize the impact when you go over any cracks or bumps.

The front tire is solid, rather than air-filled, but it is larger than that of a standard kart attachment, and this also helps to provide a smoother riding experience.

Why it Might Not Work For You

Like the other Hiboy model, this one has poorly constructed velcro straps to attach the board to the kart that can be prone to breaking.

It is more expensive than most standard models. Unless you plan to ride it on less than smooth surfaces, the more basic model will suffice just as well.

Overall Verdict

If you plan to do some light off-roading, you may want to consider the Hiboy HC-02. Although it is a little more expensive than most standard models, the suspension under the seat and the larger front wheel size help provide a more comfortable riding experience.
